Little Candle Matters
大意義

Vivian was born and raised in Hong Kong. Fate had it that she one day joined a DIY candle workshop which she fell in love with immediately. After attending more courses and practices, Vivian mastered the skills and created many unique food candles, including the collection of Hong Kong classic street food and dim sum exhibited at this year’s HK Fair.

The process of making food candles reminded Vivian of her time and memories in Hong Kong! When she first participated in HK Fair in 2022, she realized that the Hong Kong-inspired food candles sparked resonance among Hong Kongers, serving as a medium that connects Hong Kongers to one another, adding another layer of meaning and warmth to candle-making.

Each candle was born out of hard work: from selecting raw materials and candle wick, to shaping it. Every step takes time and careful control of temperature and time, especially those that have no mould and require shaping purely by hand. In Vivian’s eyes, candle-making is similar to life, to calling a new place home. Things may not go your way, and you may make mistakes. As long as one does not give up, there are endless possibilities.
