Cities are often remembered through their architecture or monumental histories. Hong Kong, however, is equally a city recorded through paper.
Through the fragile ephemera of receipts, menus, and handwritten slips, Paper Stories of Hong Kong considers how ordinary paper objects become vessels of memory, carrying the lived experiences of a city across time and distance.
Presented by Urban Poet Hong Kong at the Vancouver Hong Kong Fair, the exhibition brings together Toronto-based Hong Kong artists Drawmud and InkedbyPo in a collaborative exploration of Hong Kong’s everyday paper culture.
