This research project, created by a team led by Principal Investigator Dr. Annie Wan, explores the use of an Artificial Intelligence-assisted Virtual Reality application in the training of Alzheimer caregivers. A co-design approach is adopted in this project in order to include people with lived experience in the research and design process, which aligns with UBC Health’s Strategic Plan core area of advocating for and helping develop capacity for positive change in health.
This application has been used in the process of training caregivers for first-generation Hong Konger immigrants in Richmond, and will be further developed to work with the Alzheimer Society of BC, and include interviewees and participants from different cultural backgrounds, from both rural and urban locations.
