“Traces of Hong Kong” is part of the ongoing mission of URBAN POET HK (UPHK) to connect Hong Kong creatives with global audiences through multisensory storytelling. This exhibition reimagines iconic Hong Kong streets through scent and design, translating memory, history, and emotion into a deeply immersive experience.
Presented by Victoria 1842, a Tokyo-based cultural studio known for exploring colonial archives and the afterlives of Hong Kong governors, this show shifts focus from monuments of power to the everyday streets that bear their names. Paired with Vancouver’s Ollie & Co.’s handcrafted scent, each street becomes a portal into the collective memory of a city in motion—alive with incense smoke, kitchen steam, and rain-washed stone.
Through spatial direction by Eliza Wong, the exhibition invites visitors to trace the city’s layers—not just through what is seen, but through what is remembered and felt.
