The technique of paper crafting is Hong Kong’s cultural heritage and also one of the declining industries from the past. Yet, the traditional art is still very much alive around us. There are the lanterns in the Mid-Autumn Festival, the floral wreath celebrating a new opening or the popular lion and dragon dances during ceremonies and rituals. The paper crafting technique is one of the most signature traditional art forms in Hong Kong.

Contemporary paper craft artist Yee Chan will be hosting a special workshop at this year’s Hong Kong Fair, teaching participants to make their very own paper craft night light.

一講起紮作藝術，好多人都會覺得係一門傳統手藝，亦係香港夕陽工業之一，但其實紮作藝術一直喺我們嘅生活之中。無論係中秋節嘅花燈紮作、新舖開張嘅花牌，定係節慶常客舞龍舞獅，紮作都係不可或缺嘅傳統文化藝術。

今年嘅香港人市集請到當代紮作工藝師阿怡嚟教大家以紮作技巧製作一盞小夜燈。一齊嚟發揮創意，整一盞充滿個人特色嘅紮作品啦！

About Yee Chan

Yee Chan is a contemporary paper crafting and sugar artist with 15 years of experience in art education, including special needs education. She holds a Master of Visual Arts from Baptist University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Sculpture) from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. In 2019, Yee completed a program in blown sugar art through the Hong Kong Intangible Cultural Heritage Education Program at Lingnan University.

當代紮作、糖藝師，多年藝術教育和特殊教育經驗。畢業於墨爾本皇家理工大學藝術文學士(主修雕塑)及香港浸會大學視覺藝術碩士。2019年完成非物質遺產教育計劃的吹糖技藝導師培訓課程。
